3 Things Your MUA Wished You Knew
Bridal make-up (also Groom’s make-up - let’s be real) is such an important part of one’s day. It is the final part of your getting ready preparation - the bow on the present so to speak. We spoke to Mia Valdez Beauty about some things she wished more couples knew before booking a MUA. And, after you read some of the tips here, be sure to head on over to her blog to really get into the nitty gritty.
Give your make-up artist inspiration images that have similar features as you! If you have darker skin, understand that colors will look differently on you. Or, if you have a monolid, understand that a cut crease look will be harder to achieve. Even small things like nose shapes, bone structure, lip size is important to consider. Finding pictures that look truer to you will help set your expectations accurately and give the MUA a fair chance!
Make-up trials…You booked one right? If you haven’t we’ll wait here while you get on that girl because it’s a must! …Anyways, understand that is will be a full coverage look. It should still feel lightweight, but normal make-up just won’t cut it on the wedding day. It will need to last 8+ hours as well as withstand weather and tears so the make-ip will need to be applied accordingly. Don’t be too shocked when you look in a mirror! Take a photo instead so you can see how it will look in photo/video on your wedding day. We would even suggest taking a photo with a white shirt (or whateeveer color your dress is) to help you visualize even more!
Before your big day, make sure to prep accordingly. This means absolutely NO bachelorette parties or binge drinking. Mia also recommends giving yourself a mini facial to keep your skin hydrated and ready for the wedding! Plus, it may help relax any pre-wedding nerves!
