Wedding Flower Price Factors
Wedding flowers are such an integral part of wedding design. They help carry the colors and theme of the day from the ceremony all the way through to the reception, in addition to adding natural warmth and scent to the atmosphere. That said, many people get MAJOR sticker shock when they first receive their floral proposals. The cost of flowers (especially in our current post-COVID world), the time/expertise of the artist, and any required travel have many thinking about scratching florals all together to which I say “DON’T DO IT!” There are many cost-effective ways to make your wallet pack a punch with florals, so we talked to our floral friend, Ashley with Herb + Ritual about some ways you can save money while still having BEAUTIFUL arrangements.
This one may be a bit obvious but keep the number of arrangements down. The more people you have in your wedding party mean more bouquets & boutonnieres to order. The more guests you invite to your wedding mean more tables and more centerpieces. Keep the numbers low in order to stretch your budget further. Just think, the average bridesmaid bouquet is anywhere from $50-$75. If you keep your wedding party small, you are saving that much more money!
Seasonal availability - Make sure you are requesting flowers that are in season! Requesting florals that are out of season means that your florist has to have them shipped in at much higher costs. So, if you really want peonies in your bouquet, then you better be having a spring/early summer wedding!
Greenery - Consider playing with the textures of various greenery accented by only a flower or two rather than the other way around. Greens typically cost less per stem than flowers so the more you can bulk up the arrangements, the better!
Mix & Match - Add variety and break the monotony but mixing your table arrangements up. Have one table with an arrangement and another table with several smaller bud vases. It looks great and adds a fun contrast to the table decor!
Wedding Party & Family Only - Craving that high budget, elaborate display of florals but don’t have the budget for it? Use bigger, more elaborate arrangements for the wedding party and close family tables and use smaller arrangements for the remaining guest tables.
Reuse - Pop your bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets into vases as centerpieces for the tables or as added decor for things like the guest book/memorial/welcome table inside the reception!
